The Large Courses Project, Fall 2020 – helping faculty safely deliver first-class UT instruction in large courses.
When the UT campus closed in March, the President convened six working groups to envision a safe fall 2020 semester that could deliver the kind of first-class education for which UT faculty are known. Over 250 faculty, staff and students worked into the summer to plan health and wellness, academics, student life and engagement, research, operations, and athletics for the fall.
To support social distancing in the academic vision, UT decided to deliver the largest enrollment courses fully online. The Provost asked Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) to assist with this effort. LAITS was provided with a list of eligible courses and created the ‘Large Course Project’ to help develop materials and delivery of these courses.
On this website, you’ll find what LAITS developed to enable you to instruct and engage your students safely from technology-equipped classrooms using live and asynchronous delivery methods. These classrooms and support methods provide you access to almost every tool you would normally use to teach, including tools to support student engagement, interaction, and success. They are designed to help you deliver high-quality instruction online.
If you prefer to use other production methods for developing your course, LAITS can offer you consultation and guidance on ways to deliver online instruction.
We look forward to helping you make your large enrollment courses a success this fall.
